Latest project update - September 2024

Construction progress on site over last month

• Leisure pool – concrete base and walls poured
• Program Pool – pool covers - concrete poured
• Family change room – concrete slab poured
• Concrete poured for ring beam to support the pool hall’s structural steel underway

Focus of construction work in coming month

• Concrete pour for a portion of the pool hall concourse slab
• 25m Pool – concrete pour for ramps
• Program Pool – pour pool cover base
• Spa – concourse – concrete pour
• Commence erection of scaffolding to construction steel framework
• Steel framework for northern end of pool hall due to arrive on site

Completed works

Since the pool closed on 19 November 2022, the following works have been completed:

• Site establishment
• Demolition of the old pool hall
• Implementation of Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) approved Asbestos Management Plan protocols with excavation and removal of some asbestos contaminated soil.
• Construction of new piles to support the pool hall
• Structural retaining wall on the site’s north-eastern boundary completed
• Capping of contaminated soil on 100% of the site
• New stormwater line in Small Street
• Below ground backwash tanks for the 25m and program pools
• Pool Concrete shells are complete for the 25m Pool, Program Pool, Learn to Swim Pool and Spa

Other relevant project updates over the last month

• A new time lapse video, showing construction between January and July 2024, has been added to the project website.
• Continuation of the Asbestos Management Plan - daily air monitoring continuing

Centre facilities currently open

• Health club and sports hall, including a full range of land-based group fitness classes

Expected project completion date

• 2025
