This strategy offers a framework to guide volunteering at Willoughby Council. Council currently engages over 600 volunteers who contribute to the delivery of services, over five key program areas:
MOSAIC Multicultural Centre
Library services
At Home With Willoughby
Arts & Culture
Bushcare
Volunteers play a vital role to the delivery of a wide range of Council services. Volunteering promotes a strong and resilient community by building social connections and strengthening networks of community support. Council therefore seeks to cultivate strong volunteerism by ensuring that volunteers are offered a safe, well-supported and rewarding experience.
The Volunteer Strategy 2024-2028 aims to:
Maximise mutually beneficial outcomes for both Council and its volunteers
Increase participation for diverse community groups
Improve organisational management practices to ensure that volunteers are well-supported
Promote a consistent and coordinated approach to volunteer management across the organisation
The Draft Strategy is comprised of three strategic directions:
1. Support volunteers to thrive
2. Promote and grow
3. Celebrate volunteers
The strategy outlines approaches that will provide volunteers with a safe and supported volunteering environment, recognise their contributions and achievements, and ensure our community are aware of the benefits that volunteer affords.
