Consultation has concluded

Council is seeking your feedback through the survey below, about our draft proposal to improve pedestrian access along Sailors Bay Road between Alpha Rd and Kameruka Rd. Consultation closes 5pm on Sunday, 30 November 2019.

Council has been told by the community that there are two routes they are most concerned about pedestrian access and safety:

  • Willoughby Rd, between Gore Hill Fwy and Chandos St; and
  • This proposed site at Sailors Bay Rd, between Alpha Rd and Kameruka Rd

The key issues raised were:

  • Lack of places to cross the road safely within the shopping strip on Sailors Bay Rd between Bellambi Rd and Euroka St
  • A safer pedestrian crossing in Woonona Rd at the roundabout of Sailors Bay Rd

Council wants to know what you think about the draft Access Plan for Sailors Bay Rd to address these and issues identified during investigation. The Draft Pedestrian Access Plan can be accessed in the supporting documents to the right of this page.

Background

An audit of Sailors Bay Rd pedestrian facilities has been undertaken by an an external consultant and can be found in the Supporting documents. The Sailors Bay Rd section is found from page 12.

Council has now developed a Plan for Sailors Bay Rd to create a pedestrian friendly environment with improved facilities along the route.

You can view the Draft Plan (which has a series of proposals) in the Supporting Documents located to the right of this page.

Next Stage:

The proposals in the Draft Plan will be revisited in light of your feedback and a Final Plan will be developed.

A detailed investigation process is required before approval of a Final Plan. This involves a series of engineering and design studies prior to a final submission to the Local Traffic Committee and Council approval.
