What's happening?
Willoughby City Council has received just over $874,000 in funding through the NSW Safe Speeds in High Pedestrian Activity and Local Areas for the 2024/25 financial year to create a safer, more pedestrian friendly environment around Castle Cove Village Centre.
The project will focus on improving pedestrian safety and lowering traffic speeds by building new road infrastructure to help make Castle Cove Village Centre safer and more accessible for everyone.
Key features of this project include:
Cobblestone entry treatments to the village shops area
New pedestrian crossings on Rosebridge Avenue, and Holly Street to improve pedestrian safety and lower traffic speeds
Minor road changes to improve intersection safety and pedestrian accessibility
Introduction of a 40 km/h speed limit within the High Pedestrian Activity Area in the village and shops precinct.
