Synthetic grass sportsgrounds have provided significant benefits to the sports playing community by allowing better use of the highly competitive sportsgrounds space available in the Willoughby LGA.
Synthetic grass allows more hours of sports use without damaging and impacting the turf surface.
Council adopted a Management Plan in 2011 when Northbridge Oval was converted to synthetic. The Plan covered matters such as hours of use, public holiday bans, parking, and noise. The Management Plan has now been updated to incorporate the additional synthetic sportsgrounds of Thomson Oval, Chatswood High School Oval and Gore Hill Oval.
On page 3 of the Council Report, Figure 1 provides the differences between the current and proposed bookable times at each of the ovals covered by the draft Synthetic Sportsgrounds Management Plan.
Council has previously consulted with the main sporting groups using these sportsgrounds. This feedback helped to inform the draft Synthetic Sportsgrounds Management Plan.
